decluttering: a year of textile waste

An abstract crocheted piece containing one year of textile waste and soft clutter
(fabrics scraps, clothes that are beyond repair, string, old plastic bags, broken cables etc). I am hosting workshop events for anyone who would like to also crochet their clutter and join in this exhibition. I would love to see crocheted pieces of different sizes and styles that can all come together to raise awareness for how much textile waste we produce and to help people make more sustainable choices moving forward. The events will include some facts and talking points about how much damage the fast fashion industry does and the waste it produces. There will also be a jar of action points so participants can pick one and take it away to do! These will be simple ways to choose fabrics more intentionally when purchasing and ways we can work together to reduce the amount of textiles that end up in landfill. The idea is to bring more awareness to this issue without making people feel guilty or overwhelmed! Email me if you'd like to get involved using the button below. |
